Physical Description
The Feather Duster Worm, with its large branchial plume measuring 30-40 mm in diameter, can reach lengths of up to 25 cm, although they are typically smaller. The plume may exhibit hues of pale orange, tan, or maroon. Its tube is composed of non-calcareous parchment.
Habitat
This species is commonly found projecting from crevices in rocks, as well as on wharf pilings and marina floats.
Geographical Range
The Feather Duster Worm inhabits waters from Alaska to southern California.
Diet
Feeding through its filter-feeding apparatus, the Feather Duster Worm consumes plankton and organic particles from the water column.
